Qigong
Qigong is the ancient Chinese practice of cultivating subtle energy or Qi, through movement and meditation. "Qi" (pronounced 'Chi') translates as "life energy" or "breath", and "gong" as "work" or "cultivation".

When we move, stretch and breathe deeply we come back into alignment with ourselves, Qi can circulate more freely and bring nourishing energy into the body. The main benefits are improving health, healing and recovery, longevity , creativity, and spiritual development.

Can Qigong help existing illnesses?
Many people have experienced healing as a result of having a Qigong practice, and so it can benefit people who are suffering from many illnesses and disease. The gentle movements bring nourishing Qi back to the major organs of the body and the calming meditative nature of the exercises also helps to bring us into a state of deep relaxation, where healing can take place. Many of the exercises can be done seated if necessary.
Connecting to the Qi
The various postures and movements that you will learn in Qigong are simply tools to connect with Qi. Some people may take time to feel or experience this connection, others may find that they 'plug in' quite easily. Connecting to Qi may be experienced as warmth, tingling, a magnetic feeling, light or vibration.
