Candida Corcoran.......About Me.....
I trained in Fine Art in London 1990-1994, then finished an MA in printmaking at UWE in 2013.
I started doing Tai Chi when I moved to North Somerset in 2003 with my family, then in 2007 I started attending regular Qigong classes with Daverick Leggett, who teaches Hua Gong in Bristol. Hua Gong focuses on health and healing, artistic creativity and the spiritual aspects of Qigong practice, and was founded by Zhixing Wang.
One of the reasons that I started doing Qigong was because I had been suffering from Ulcerative Colitis, which is an autoimmune disease, for six years, and I was assured that it would help my recovery. I found that Qigong really resonated with me, and was something I could do outside on my daily walks. It helped to deepen my connection to nature, inspire my work and nourish my creativity, as well as helping me to heal. I also took up Transcendental Meditation (TM is a meditation practice with a mantra, which you do twice a day for 20 minutes) because I felt that I needed to have a daily practice in place. I replaced medication with meditation, and nine months later all my symptoms disappeared.
Since getting well again I have been exploring the many different ways of working with energy, to facilitate healing. Everything in our Universe is energy, whether it is sound, light, thought, intention, emotion. Sometimes the heavy energy of trauma or ongoing stress blocks the natural flow of Qi, and then we experience dis-ease.
Through my own experience I have come to believe that each of us is capable of healing when we connect to the Universal energy or Qi, and clear our trauma and energy blocks.
I trained as a Qigong teacher from 2014-2016, in Bristol with Nicola Ley, then led classes in North Somerset and Frome for the next five years. I had also become interested in Shamanism and began some workshops with Mags Mackean in 2012, then travelled with her to Peru in 2014 to work with plant spirit medicine, and to Mozambique in 2019. In 2013 I did some retreats with Jonathan Horwitz from the Scandinavian Centre for Shamanic Studies, then spent two years training at Shamanka School of Women's Shamanism,(2014/2015) I went on to teach at Shamanka for three years, until 2020 (teaching 2nd Year students and Treasures of the Inka). I have trained in Plant Spirit Healing with Pam Montgomery and Emma Farrell, and in 2018 with Jeff Firewalker and Ellen Kittredge on the Eagle Condor Healing Intensive . In 2021 I did a years Trauma Skill Training at the Healing Earth centre in Glastonbury.
I intend to continue on my voyage into the mysteries and magic of the healing arts, learning all that I can, and helping to shine a light on the power and healing ability that every human being has within them.
